A sculpture of pop artist Andy Warhol, depicting what he might have looked like had he still been alive, has been unveiled to mark his 83rd birthday.

To be creepy or not to be creepy… that is the question. Or maybe it’s just art? I truly don’t know how I feel about this piece of art made by artist, Edgar Askelovic, who spent three months working on the piece of an aged portray of Andy Warhol, which is being displayed at McDermott Galleries in Birmingham. I absolutely love the idea that the artist sold his car to by silicone to make this piece but then again I am like hmmmm…. okay.

“I thought long and hard about what he might look like today,” Askelovic said.

“The pose of the piece is taken from a photograph of Warhol in the 60s. He is a huge inspiration to me and I wanted to make sure that I did him justice with my work,” the 23-year-old artist said.

I love most everything made with or about Andy Warhol but this piece I have to be honest kind of freaks me out. Maybe it’s the bare white old legs or knowing that it’s eerie close to maybe the way Warhol would look these days? Still I have to say it’s pretty cool and wish I would like to have this piece of Warhol to have in my studio…. but maybe standing up with Jean Michel Basquiat.

But I want lie… I would love to have this in my place no matter what! I mean come one it’s Andy Warhol people!

So I am a huge fan for Canon products and for my career is the only name I have used for camera body and lens to get the shot I need. I am also I guess what you could say a junkie when it comes to and thing photography related! For years now I have collected anything and everything that has a photography theme and well this item couldn’t be more perfect. The Canon name as well as this being one of the main lens I shoot with has made it a must have for me, and of course with it being a mug or even a container for plants is just awesome! I have seen some of these in the past but the price tag was something I didn’t want to see on them, but the prices for these two I think I could handle. I just thought that I would pass this along for those who are photography junkies like me. So check them out and thank for reading my blog.

With iOS 5 iPhone is Making the Headphones Control The Shutter Too

Found this article on wired.com about how Apple is coming out with iOS 5 controlling the shutter release for the camera function. This is going to be awesome because I love taking pictures when people least expect it and best when they don’t know it! Can’t tell you how excited I am with all the new stuff coming out for iOS 5!

Article states:

“There’s one very neat new feature that will come to every iPhone and iPad 2 with iOS 5: a free remote cable release. According to Brian Sweet of the Cult of Mac blog, the volume button on the iPhone’s headphone cord works just as well as the volume button on the iPhone when it comes to triggering the camera app.

This means you can stick the iPhone on one of many, many tripods or stands and snap a blur-free shot. It’s a shame that you can’t control the shutter speed manually for proper long, low light shots as you can with a real camera, but we’ll settle for what we can get — bear in mind that any camera made in the last 10-15 years requires an expensive, proprietary remote to do this, whether by cable or IR.

This is awesome and just thought I would pass this along which I found on my favorite blog PetaPixel! If you don’t know about this blog you should because they have a lot of great things on it.

Bryce Bell of cardnetics created this business card design that features a built-in aperture mechanism. Pull the lever down and the aperture opens up. If you run a photography-related business, this could be a neat business card to pass out to your clients. Pre-assembled cards start at $6 each, while you can buy kits that you put together yourself for $2.50. If you want to try printing and laser cutting the card yourself, the design templates are available here.

“Just Dance”

A little while ago I had the honor to sit in on a ballet class in their rehearsal for one of their productions. When I got there I sat off to the side to figure out who was the strongest and most interesting dancers. Also, just to get a feel of what I was experiencing and to soak it in. Some of the dancers were just amazing on how natural it seemed to come to them but also how hard they were on themselves. It’s all about perfection and I definitely can relate to that in what I do on a daily basis. I ended up staying there for a couple of hours to see them go over and over their routine and to get their places right. As you will see a couple of the photos below as I was able to document them and I hope you enjoy. For I love to shoot but one of the things I love best is to capture that single moment that no one else seems to believe in. Seeing is believing.

“Jenkins Family Portrait Session”

Recently I had an amazing opportunity to shoot the Jenkins family of wife and now mother, Megan, husband and father, Josh and baby boy Bronson. This shoot was like no other because I went to high school with Megan and Josh back in the day. You always wonder in high school or even after, which relationships will continue through the years and wonder if anyone ever reconnected. Well, the love of Josh and Megan are not only in each of them but now they have a whole love of family for many years to come. I ran into Megan and Josh a few years ago when I was working on another job and found out they were together. Looking at the two you could tell they were best friends with an amazing relationship between them. We all work so hard at things in our lives and especially saying those three little words to someone special and having it returned by your loved one. Relationships like the Jenkins family always put a smile on my face and would warm anyones heart. Megan and Josh’s son, Bronson, was born just a little over 4 weeks ago and I love shooting children because it reminds me of so many things by just looking into their little eyes. Over the years I have had several guy friends and even my brother have had children and first it’s an amazingly special addition to life, but also touching on how by having a child will always change your ways. Meaning by which I have known some of these fathers since I was little and I knew the wild and crazy sides of them but now they are a father and how special that family is to them. I truly love having the chance to shoot family’s portraits because it documents that moment for them to be able to look back on. “Stiletto Effect”

The other day I had the privilege to shoot an amazing indie pop band called Stiletto Effect. The band is made up of Barry Brandon on vocals, JL on vocals, synth and keyboard and Bobby Brandon on drums. They came to me wanting new images to help launch their North American tour that’s starting in March. After some planning and a couple of changes things just started to flow. We ended up shooting in a beautiful antique store over on the west side of Atlanta and they stressed that they wanted something new and different for their look. I couldn’t have asked for anything better than a great group of guys, asking for something different, and only an hour to shoot. I love it when the pressure is on and the demands are high because that’s when I work the best. Stiletto Effect will be hitting the road with recording artist Eryn Woods beginning on March 11 – kicking off the tour in Atlanta, GA for Bedlam at My Sister’s Room. I have posted a couple of images on here but also find them on facebook to see when they are coming to your city!
